History

As part of Grand View Hospital Week 2006, a craft auction was announced to benefit charity. I wanted to be a part of this and having dabbled in many crafts while leading Girl Scouts, etc., I could not think of one. So, I called my best friend, fellow crafter and daughter at college and asked her what was “hot”. She immediately replied, “Guess what is coming back, Mom? Those purses made from jeans!!”

I made 3 sizes for the craft auction and “Denim DZign” was born as the orders came in. I began to sell at a few craft fairs, take orders, and the business began.

Within a year, my husband was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer and underwent treatment. During this time the business helped keep the bills paid. Today he has recovered but is without work and has joined me in making purses. He calls himself the de-construction as he cuts and tears apart seams, while I construct the purses at the sewing machine.
